Devious Journal Entry
Deviation Actions
How long have you been on DeviantArt? Four Years, but I've only recently came on to learn more about photo manipulation and to label myself as an artist.
What does your username mean? Umm... well, it's my name. And yes, I am the Queen of the Castle. I don't care what the rest of them say.
Describe yourself in three words. Eh, Creative, Introverted, Helpful
Are you left or right handed? Left!
What was your first deviation? Umm, the first manipulation I did was this one. I'd started off using Gimp and did a few tutorials with it.
The other "first" I did was to take a picture of a tree and try to paint it.
Get it, "Painted Tree" ? Yeah, it was fun.
What is your favourite type of art to create? Well, I love to draw and paint. But then I started seeing these beautifully done digital artworks. Some photo- manipulations and some digital paints. I fell in love and started researching how to do that wonderful stuff. I finally found Gimp- which was free. Which was what I needed to get started with. I love winding down at the end of the day while watching tutorial videos and trying it out for myself.
If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? ...Ohhhh, I've always wanted to master water paints. I can paint with acrylic. I can work fairly well with pastels and colored pencils. But oh, I'd love to learn how to master water paints. Oh, and I also want to learn how to master digital art: like creating pictures for children's books and such. I'm a writer and would love to write and design my own picture book! Someday I will!!
What was your first favourite?
What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? Photo-manipulation fantasy art. I get captured up in these sprawling scenes of a city, or landscape or village. Or by some enchantress or faerie in the woods. I have to watch my time because I could spend hours here and on Pinterest looking at beautiful art.
Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? I've begun to find several I really like. But I think it was Elena Dudina who inspired me to figure out how to make such beautiful artwork.
If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? I'm not sure. Elena did the covers for my first two books and she's a real jewel to work with.
What are your preferred tools to create art? Well, I'm using the newest photoshop... or trying to figure it out. And my wacom tablet. Otherwise I love pencils, color pencils and paint brushes.
What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? Most inspirational? Out in an enchanted woods on a cool day. Maybe in autumn. I love the colors. But Spring will do, as well. I'll take summer if it's up north. I live in Texas and the only good place to be during summer in Texas is inside. With lots of AC. Really. Realistically (which is not a favorite word of mine) I work in my office, or I find a sunny spot in the house where I can look out a window at the trees.
